How to Remove Pedal Assembly

Hi all,

I am trying to remove the pedal assembly and it is giving me trouble. I have removed the 4 bolts holding it to the bottom of the dash as well as smaller bolts holding it to the back of the firewall from the inside. All three pedal linkages are detached. I have removed the clutch master cylinder too. Despite all this it is still firmly in there. Any ideas on anything missed? Do I just need to hit it harder to loosen it after 43 years being in there??

If you got all 8 bolts around the edge, it's probably just an old sticky gasket.
 
Not sure if it helps but you can remove all three pedals next. There is a 17mm bolt running through the pedals. This is actually all you need to add a clutch pedal to an auto. Some pics in my deconstruction thread.

Anyway, may give you some room...
 
Thanks for the responses but I got it out. When I think about my whole part out process, I should have followed Markos' lead and documented the process. Ultimately I am doing this not only for the parts but as much if not more so to learn about this model before I begin work on mine.

But anyway, here is the reason it would not come out: The pedal assembly is all one piece with the brake booster support. Namely I had to release all the bolts holding the brake booster and those securing the booster to the inner fender. There was then the pin on which the accelerator rod was hung too that stopped it sliding it but I had to cut the firewall to get around that because normally to remove that I would have to have removed the clutch master cylinder but it was hard to get to the bottom bolt. In any case, it came out but really was a pain in the arse!
 
I just installed my accelerator pivot rod with the clutch MC in place. Not sure why the reverse wouldn't work.

Sorry I assumed you'd already removed the brake booster etc.
