When you have 12 ads for 12 different cars- for hundreds of thousands of dollars......
When you have a sign for your business in the picture with the cars....
When you have a multi year record of car sales.......
When you have Yelp reviews......
When you have a website.....
When you have 7 cars displayed on your property....
You aren't fooling anyone posting "By Owner"
I have now turned down 2 pre purchase inspections on this car.
Two qualified buyers.
No sale
No inspection
I just ignore the "by owner" thing. As you suggested it's pretty apparent when a dealer is involved. With parts, particularly wheels - I filter by owner to remove all of the new Chinese BBS RS clones from the results. It still doesn't get all of them, again due to companies posting by owner.
3.0seeker and Markos look like you posted a minute apart from each other yesterday...this is a double post for same car. But I can't agree more with sfdon....... used car salesman of old....don't be surprised if you pull up and he's wearing a canary or pink blazer...and looks like Boss Hog!
Craigslist charges $5 per ad for dealers. Apparently they're trying to get around spending that huge amount of money. The ad can be flagged a couple times and will probably be taken off.
Our company posts about $1000 worth of ads on craigslist each month.
