My hood support mechanism is toast so I bought two E28 hood supports which are hydraulic. HAs anyone ever tried this method? If so are there any pitfalls I should know about?

I've not seen this done, but a couple of guys here have used a simple support rod like the CSLs.

I think Alan has done that in his rebuild. Check out his detailed resto write up/ pics and you'll come across what he has done, or contact him directly.

That looks really sweet! But I have a hard time imagining that the heavier coupe hood would work with such a system. I'd love see someone try it though!

Any idea where to find these type of gas shocks?

AMAZON HAS HUNDREDS OF THEM
YOU WANT ONE THAT IS ABOUT 20" LONG WITH A PRESSURE OF ABOUT 15 POUNDS
I JUST PUT IT ON THE RIGHT ITS REALLY NOT INTHE WAY

the question becomes - would these interfere on a coupe with AC? it seems like they will interfere with the condensor + fan
