That’s great
We are doing a few other touristy stops also throughout the day .
The Petersen closes at 3 that day so I will have to be careful with my scheduling to keep all the family happy and fit everything in .
Now that it’s booked I am really looking forward to it .

As always, you can take as long or as little as you want in a museum. But if it’s your first time and you really want to take it all in, I think you should plan for half a day for the Petersen. Especially if you do the vault as well. I would often go there during my lunch time and 1 to 1.5 hour was what I took for just a ”refresher”.

The Mullin is really awesome but it is a bit out of the way (beautiful - but long - drive if you go up the coast on PCH) and I believe you need reservations. They have the best collection of early French cars and Bugattis in the world.

Hi guys
Do you have any recommendations for a nice restaurant in or near Redondo beach for dinner ?
Somewhere that does a good steak or chicken or pasta or burger, not fish !
I know that might be a bit vague, but I thought I’d ask anyway.
We had a booking in kincaid’s but we just realized they changed the menu for Christmas Day ( it is way too fishy now )
Anyway I’m sure we will find something but if you have any recommendations let me know .
Thanks !

Well, certainly not fancy but most definitely classic americana would be Ruby’s by Seaside Lagoon. Good burgers with a nice 50s vibe and awesome location right on the beach

Thanks for the info, l just checked they have closed down unfortunately.
I don’t know how or why but if it is anything like over here some business were not lucky enough to make it through the pandemic.
Anyway thanks again
I’ll keep looking :)

Oh no! I did not know that. Yes, based on the article, it was clearly an early victim of the coronavirus.
A real shame. The location was great for the family. And the Friday night hot rod gathering was always fun.

Best fine dining in the South Bay: https://www.barans2239.com/
Good food in a strip mall: https://www.bettolinokitchen.com/
More barish if you like to drink: https://www.thehookandplow.com/
High end steak house in MB: https://thearthurj.com/
Great view of the MB pier: https://www.thestrandhousemb.com/
Thanks for these links, Jeff. I clicked on the Arthur steak house. Have never have read a wine list constructed this way. I am tempted towards the list attributed to Sophia Loren. Anyone else?

Thanks again guys for all the recommendations.( even though we have now booked somewhere else )
Thanks for taking the time to help us out with local info.
It turns out we have a somewhat car related booking for Christmas dinner
We are going to the finishing point of the cannonball run at the Portofino Hotel.

When I was a young teenager and there was a new video shop opened in our village one of the videos myself and my friends rented a few times was the cannonball run movie.
So now all those years later by a pure fluke I’m going to see the finishing line from the movie.
So I’ll be fondly remembering the good old days .
I do hope the Lamborghini countach with its 2 beautiful drivers show up :)

Anyway
Thanks again guys !!

Hi guys
I just wanted to report back , that the Petersen was awesome.
My trip in general was way too short but we really enjoyed our trip to LA
We were the typical tourists we spent 1 day sightseeing and doing the Petersen and all of the sights in and around Beverly Hills. Then Christmas Day we had some nice time walking along the strand in Hermosa and just enjoying a nice family day taking in all the sights again
Then on our last day my gang wanted to hit the shops , so we all had a great trip to the west coast .
Thanks again for all your advice :)

...so we all had a great trip to the west coast.

Barry, we're happy to hear that your trip went well. The weather has been terrible since you left!
Btw, you're not supposed to touch the HOLLYWOOD sign, but we won't say anything... ;-)
