Those of you with far better memories than myself might remember me asking what issue of “Road & Track” featured the story authored by Sam Posey about him and Hans Stuck driving factory prepped race coupes. The reason I mention better memories is I probably asked several years ago. I had somewhat put my hopes of finding an issue on the back burner because no one in this group remembered the issue and I had no idea how to find it other than buying every musty issue of Road & Track off eBay that ever came out in the seventies.
After Murray Fowler passed I bought some of his issues of various car magazines featuring coupes from HB Chris (THANKS Chris). In one of them, “Vintage Racecar Journal” I recently noticed Stuck and Posey raced together as team mates in the 1975 IMSA races. That’s where I got the idea  to do a “Road & Track +1975” search on eBay. In less than a hours searching I found the story featured in the November 1975 issue. It’s got a really out of proportion artist’s drawing of a green 928 Porsche on the cover (see photo below).
There are several pages where Sam describes setting up and racing the coupe, he also admits to not being able to keep up with Stuck. Then there’s what I guess you’d call a co-article by Paul Frere which is a technical analysis of the factory racing CSL coupes. If you’re a fan of Hans Stuck or like racing BMWs it might be worth finding a copy on eBay. ENJOY…… maybe a nice stocking stuffer to buy for yourself. ~ John Buchtenkirch
