... and if anyone has to wonder about what the state of BMW design is... Look no further than the car they chose to feature on the '50 years of 3 Series' grill badge....
In first read of the title of the email, I was thinking .... 'Ah, nice... some E21 time.....' - but NOPE.....

Here in Seattle, it is too early to have a drink today.... But... seeing this sure makes me tempted.... I'll take a couple of Excedrin instead and call it a day.
As I type this, this is my view.... LOL
A very much more appealing scene... :)

Seeing this reminds me of a conversation I had with the then Pres of the local CCA chapter some time back about why (in his view) there are not many members who have older BMW's (this was even back then - some 20 years ago). He didn't really get it. I present the latest exhibit.... :)

PS - A bit of info on my pic (I just realized it can be a bit confusing with so much going on in the scene).
This is the view from my desk in the office area of my shop. I am on the second floor with a balcony looking out to the main area of the building. The E9 is on a 4 post lift with my E38 below it. I have a two post lift to the near side of the Coupe with the Mustang there... Sadly, the 2002 seen in my desktop is no longer with me....

Cheers!

Nice shop.

The current buck tooth BMW grill looks horrible in the US. In Europe, where the license plate bisects the horrible grill, they look a little better. Nonetheless, they have gone too far with the notion that a grill needs to make a dramatic statement.

That’s precisely why I volunteered to be the PNW rep for the BMW Classic Car Club America. We need more members and local events.

Awesome garage BTW.

JMinPDX, Dirk volunteered me as the local rep. Thanks, Dirk. I left the CC club decades ago and found a home in the True CCC only a couple of years ago.
I look forward to studying each issue of The Classic like the Talmud.

Thanks for the kind words on the shop. I've had the local E9 group over once (the interior was not finished out as it is now).
The main area was somewhat empty then (that was during COVID).
In that visit - we had a 'socially distant' visit with chairs spread out in a decently large circle with a BYOB lunch after a fun drive.
The shop is 52'x70' with 16' high bay. Yeah - I am spoiled.

Looking forward to getting the gang over again when it works out - this time for a better 'social' environment (with a much more completed shop to have as a backdrop).

Yes I saw you named in the latest Ultimate Classic Club Magazine. You've had a head start with your "Rocket Dog" group.

Funny I was thinking the same thing...it would be my luck, or lack thereof, to finally win one of these CCA auctions.

I would probably put 200 miles on it then "throw it up on BaT", pun intended.

same here ... i first joined CCA in 1980 and i just didn't find enough to interest me about all of the cars after 2005 to stay a member. CCC is a perfect upgrade.

I belonged to CCA in the 80's and joined the CCC after hearing about it from @CSteve when we connected during the sale of his coupe. Steve's rocket dogs group is great and I have enjoyed the one CCC event in Buck's County PA a few years ago and am looking forward to the 20th anniversary gathering.

I too look forward to the magazine and read it cover to cover.
