Am i right in thinking that a vaccuum leak is the most likely culprit for a car that will nearly stall when the revs drop back to idle? It will usually idle though after nearly stalling. It does sometimes hunt a bit to find the right level.

I guess its a combo of the mixtrue knob on the brain under the rear right seat and also fuel pressure. I know the latter on my car is higher than the book value so will turn it down but i adjusted the mixtrue knob recently by leaning until it coughed and then richened.

Have you checked your mps to see if it holds vacuum?
Difficulty in running up in revs is usually lean and difficulty in holding revs off throttle is rich.
