IE: 1971 3.0 CS - $70K

Looks nice.
Can't speak for my US mates but for me it's a big negative that's it's not a matching numbers car.

we have grown used to it. if i had a matching numbers car, i would keep it if possible. when the original engine fails or wears out, its so affordable to put a running engine of the same design / form factor from a newer car into the coupe. and then there is the option to go to 3.5L engines for an easy increase of power that brings a coupe alive. to me as much as i like the newer S engines ... they just look a little 'off' in a coupe. the m30 or the m90 just look correct.

Interesting. The whole #s matching thing started with chevys to prove if the car was a high performance variant or not because the vin didn't say much. For a cs? Why would it matter?

Picky!! The knobs for the front seat backrest latches are missing!! - HA.

And - R-134 IS NOT an upgrade AC coolant in a car where the cooling capacity was already marginal with the R-12.

How is this an injected motor?

interesting Rob... but on the other hand.. why have a 50$ matching radio knob if even the engine doens't matter ?

looks nice, but ...

a bit "sporty price" for an 2800 auto imho. Probably still no disk break at the rear. Missing some gaskets (inside the door and front under the hood). Missing under riders at the rear bumper. Or were they missing not only at the 2,5cs but also at the 2800 ? Speakers in the door cards. Silver (over)-spray for the wiper linkage.

If there's no photo documentation I personally doubt a reasonable restoration process generally. Connection between front wings to the inner wheel house will probably be custom made. Sound dedanding mats are looking compressed from the hood. This would be a really negative sign, because this normally only happens when rust is decreasing the space between the shock tower and the hood, because it's consuming space in between the various overlapping sheet metal pieces in this area.

If the switch to the e34 engine would mean an upgrade, I don't know. If they stick to the one piece intake manifold it wouldn't even look period correct for injected engines. Once again for me personally really ugly

Pretty sure this is the seller:

Stopped by this place few years ago, the owner Chris seemed a decent enough guy and their mechanical and paint work looked good, although I didn't take magnifying glass to it. He seemed more interested in impressing my wife rather than me which isn't the way to start a business relationship (at least with me) Again, the work seemed ok, but further scrutiny would be prudent......

Well...wives do hold a lot of veto power typically when us guys are considering expensive toys.
