Ignition cylinder removal questions

I removed the infamous headless bolt (or whatever else it is called) without much trouble, so now I'm on to the next phase.

The problem I face now is removal of the wires at the rear of the ignition cylinder. I removed the grub screw, but I am still unable to disengage the wires from steering lock cylinder/ignition cylinder.
I've been warned not to start tugging on the wires (although it is a new set), but I'm confused about why the wires are not separating. What am I missing?

Any help or hints would be appreciated.

Never done that job but it looks pristine in your pictures!
The wires are clearly soldered into the switch, in the picture and in the diagram:

Do I see a groove there that perhaps allows a screwdriver to slide in and apply downward force?
If the grub screw is out you are only facing friction between the switch and the sleeve I guess.
The diagram also shows perhaps a ground wire attached to the side. I do not see it in the picture. I can see pulling that one would be harmless.

The wires are part of the switch assembly. The outer round aluminum switch housing along with the black plastic body and wires should slide right out after the grub screw removal.

My thoughts,

you said you removed the grub screw,
and I have seen that you removed the blockin tab too

I would first remove the key lock from top, it is a long complete barrel that will come out while using the key, you pull it out
now you can push the switch out from the other side
