Hi guys. Just came over from our E31 board for a visit - so great to see so many familiar faces. I still miss the E9s but am enjoying the E31 CSi.

This has recently come up on our board. I have always been a big user of Seafoam, but never in a stored car. I recently had issues in my CSi with newly placed fuel pumps. Granted, our fuel pumps are in-tank, but it can also apply to other components. This has also been verified by one of the suppliers of E31 parts as well. We are finding that when Seafoam is in the fuel tank for 5-6 months or more it literally destroys components, especially fuel pumps. I had never had it in tanks for very long - usually running through a tank fairly quickly, but after all the input from others, Seafoam evidently should NOT be used for cars in storage. It is great for putting it in a tank for cleaning fuel system components, but should not be left sitting in systems for longer periods of time.

Having time on my hands lately and a couple chainsaws that don't work, I've gone to the Dark Side and looked at a lot of Youtube videos. Pertinent to Seafoam, content creator Chickanic in Arkansas demonstrated several things that Seafoam wouldn't do compared to two other products: 1) burn cleanly - it gives off a lot of soot, 2) dissolve carbon deposits in the dimpled bottom of an aluminum soda (or beer) can, 3) absorb water.
I've never used Seafoam though over years I've heard others extolling its use. Now, I think I'll give it a pass.
