Injection harness wiring question

I've just scored a harness in very good condtion to replace mine, which has had a terminal block chopped off in the past and is a little shabby

I've got the late post 74 car, which doesn't have a resistor by the coil. The replacement harness has a wire for this resistor.

Should i connect this wire to a terminal on my coil, or could i leave it hanging, unconnected. Better still could I strip it out of the wiring harness completely ? (strip it back to the multi plug at the ECU, or from where ever it came) ?

Any thoughts / advice appreciated

Are you referring to wire #41 in the harness? If so, it has to be hooked into the resistor wire circuit (the green wire from the ignition switch) because it energizes the main relay. HTH.

goes to + of the coil

I have the same set up. The resistor wire (transparent white) goes to the + side of your coil and provides the electric power to your coil once your motor has started. It basically lowers the voltage (to between 8 and 9V) during regular running thus reducing the amount of amps (and pitting of contact points). When starting this is by-passed and 12V is provided directly to the coil for a stronger spark. The resistor wire should connect to a green wire (12V) more or less in front of the radiator so it is about 1m long.

Thanks Bill and Joep for the advice.
I'll take a good look under my bonnet and see if i can figure it out
