BMW 1973 CSL for sale.
This is a former RHD that has been converted to LHD with the help of a donor car.
Conversion and nuts and bolts (rotisserie) restoration has been ongoing over a period of 10 years and was completed in 2024. Since then it has only been driven about 2000 km.
It is a city pack version with aluminum doors, hood and trunk lid.
The engine is a completely overhauled 3.15l (3.2) with 206hp. Original BMW short block marked X......X which at one point replaced the original block.
The car has an LSD differential and a 5-speed Getrag gearbox.
It is very entertaining to drive and much more responsive than an ordinary e9 3.0. version.
In addition, it is somewhat stiffer in the body due to a significant increase in spot welds to counteract twisting. It has been slightly lowered with new springs and Bilstein shocks.
All wear parts are new, in addition to a new electronic 123 distributor, injectors and brake booster as well as a more efficient cooling fan (the red 5-blade fan can be included if desired).
Inside, all wood has been refinished with French walnut and 13 coats of varnish. A custom instrument cluster has been specially designed to fit in with the original context. The steering wheel is reupholstered in leather. The seats are contemporary Scheel 400 seats instead of the original bucket seats (newly reupholstered bottom part) . The headliner is original without any damage. There are new seat belts. In addition, remote-controlled opening and closing of door locks and trunk lid has been installed. The only thing that still reminds of a RHD car is that the vanity mirror is on the driver's side and that the interior light is on the right side. However, a bracket for an interior light has been mounted under the headliner on the left side. It can be used if a new owner has the courage to cut a hole!
The fuel tank has been adapted to the In-Tank system with a submerged fuel pump.
Stainless steel exhaust.
Holes for front bumper brackets are blinded by special made, bolted, stainless steel blinds. They can easily be removed.
The price is in the region of 200K USD
The car is located in Oslo, Norway and in the event of a sale the customer must organize and pay for shipping and insurance, but I will be helpful with all practical services necessary to ensure a smooth transfer.
More information and pictures will be supplied upon request.
