Installing defroster / demister vents in dash top?

Can anyone help confirm with a photo how the plastic vents look when installed correctly through top of dash?

Passenger side seems correct (vent fully through and is snug all around) / driver side a real challenge (only one side of vent through) and I'm being uber careful not to crack / break anything!

Thank you!

Your passenger side looks correct. The edges of the vent should be sticking up through the opening on all sides.

Do you have the hose connected to the inlet on the vent? and is it perhaps hanging up on the bracket to which it is normally secured? It should be fairly loose in there. Some wiring interference?

Super old thread but I happened to find a pic (I believe from @Markos ) that answers the original question so in case someone else is looking for the same thing, here it is:

Bo- I’m on vacation visiting with Peter and Carl.

Honestly- I’m at that point in my life where it all makes sense why I made notes on what I discovered over the years.

Oh, that’s right. You did tell me that and I forgot.

What I ended up doing was use some small nylon tie wraps instead of screws in those two spots. It’s not structural, all it needs to do is hold the dash there without vibrating
