The instrument light bulbs in my '72 CS are Osram k5632n, 12V 2W. I can't find a cross reference in any of the modern light bulb manufacturer's catalogs.

Anyone have a current part number and source for these bulbs?

Thanks for the leads.

Most of the parts stores here are pushing customizing parts and are cutting back on repair parts, especially for older cars.

Me and others have gone to 4W bulbs. Sylvania 3893(T4W), got them here at Kragens.

Look for a place that carries Wagner bulbs. They still make all these sizes, if the store doesn't have them on the shelf they can special order.

I agree that the chain stores now are mostly the venue for adhesive backed accessories, but check your area for a store that caters to older VW's. They usually have the parts lines that serve old BMW's too. I've got a local place that I can order all manner of BMW OEM parts through. I can even get parts for my Range Rover!

4 w bulbs

I noticed that the restored instrument cluster, now upgraded with 4W bulbs, makes the white empty petrol lamp glow when the main beam blue light is on.
Has anyone else noticed this?
The white is not fully lit, but half power perhaps.
As the bulbs are easily changed from the small "glove" box, I might go back to a 2 or 3W lamp for the blue warning lamp?!?!

Absolutely no light leaks on mine from blue to white (4W bulbs also).
Was the instrument opened for cleaning?

These cars are full of surprises.
Yes the instruments had been away at a pro shop with all the work beautifully done. As I pulled the blue light bulb holder out a few millimeters, the soft light in the white (T tank) section disappeared.
