Instrument cluster bezel fitting

Is the small hole at the bottom of the bezel used to secure it to the wood cluster console? Using a brad or small nail? Or will the gauges hold the bezels in?

Probably yes, but this hole is not genuine.
Genuinely when wood panel is bolted to the rear metal plate that bezel (other also) should be soldered metal to metal from the inside (in couple places all round).

i suppose you have a sun roof car.... that is a drain hole for the leaks
