Instrument condensation

I am getting the inside of the fuel/temp instrument foggy on cool nights. The condensation
is on the inside and goes away on warm days. How did it get there and how do I get it out of there? I was thinking of removing it and blowing hot air with a hair dryer through the
bulb sockets. Any other elegant methods? Drive the car into a sauna?
 
Do you think any water could have gotten past the bottom of the windshield seal last time you (hand) washed the car? You could try putting the gauge in a FoodSaver vacuum bag along with a sack of silica gel. I've got the set up if you want to give it a shot.
 
I should check for water, I didn't notice any while I was working on the instruments, is there as key place to look for? I will try your suggestion.
 
It is possible that water, or rather damp air is coming in through your heater
when you have the demist on to the screen the vent pipes may be leaking alittle allowing the damp air to blow on the back of the instrument panel.
Just one of those things if your driving in damp conditions
Worse could be a minor leak in the heater core allowing damp air to be blown about
