Nearly at the end of my 2800cs engine bay restoration, I have some doubts about insulation materials:
which and where?
I already bought all over the internet all the still available insulating stuff for the engine bay, but now I have some doubt about the two areas red-highlighted in the photo.
Are these areas to be covered with insulating stuff or not? And if they are, which could be the more correct material to use?

Realoem shows factory insulation that covers (or comes close to) both of those areas: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=3436-USA---E9-BMW-3.0CS&diagId=51_3470

I would advise that you also add a heat shield to the downward sloping area adjoining those two areas. The downpipes come close to the body here and transmit a lot of heat. I used a part like this one -- http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...1984_E28_BMW_M535i&diagId=51_1830#51481914124 that I obtained from Carl Nelson at La Jolla. I am not sure this is the exact same part, so I suggest you contact La Jolla for assistance on this.

There is an insulating panel for both driver and passenger side below the long upper insulating panel. There is nothing in the tunnel itself though.
