I am working on a possible reproduction of the trunk mount tool box. It will be as close as possible to original, but some things must change since doing it in a thermoset does not allow the melted posts that retained the living hinge pieces of the original. Not sure what that will be yet, also not sure if the foam tray is possible, might be sold without the tray but assembled with the two pieces hinged together. Plans are sketchy right now, but if you think you would be interested in a repro at around $500 I would appreciate your input. Let me know by posting or emailing me at [email protected].

If you have a perfect box you would like to donate to make molds let me know, you will get at a minimum a repro or two and hopefully your original back in the same condition.

That's just the tools (green screwdrivers) and no box.

This tool box is the later "half shell" unit that was fitted to the late-late E9 coupes (late 1974> ?), E3, and E12, E24, and E28 cars. I have one as fitted on my 88 M6, with the plastic used on this type of tool box is virtually indestructible and will probably outlast the car. With a little modification to the E9 trunk lid, it can be made to fit the coupe. The E9 full clam shell tool box has been forever NLA.

Yes you are correct, ETK does list it for the 3.0 Coupes and doesn't specifiy a year but it is listed for most models up to the mid 80's.
