I have been looking to buy a E9 coupe for a few years now and finally got the green light from my wife :) I am looking for a car that is in decent shape inside and out with a reliable engine that could be used for "daily" driving. Let me know if you are looking to sell your car or if you know of somebody that is looking to sell. I do check Craigslist/ebay on a regular basis but it does scare me a bit not knowing or, most likely, seeing the car prior to bidding. I rather buy from somebody that knows the history of the car. btw looking to spent between 8-12K depending on model/mileage/condition etc. Hoping to join the E9 owners club, sooner or later...

From an earlier post

hey all coupeseekers-

follow the link to a cs at a new hampshire dealer - some details if you want to know if its worth hitting the link: $15.5k; looks like a fjord w/black interior, listed as 5sp, dual webers, described as 75% restored. a word of caution, this car's got a "strait 6" and comes with beaded-taxi-driver seat covers!

and, no affiliation, etc, etc...

I would have Mario at VSR in Bow look at it and see what itneeds

Thanks Stan, I did see the NH car, looks nice but a little out of my price range. (must be the beaded seat covers....)
I have been looking for 2 years so i can wait a little longer to find something in my price range

I was thinking that price range too, it is only a 2.5hr from my house maybe i will take a drive up after the holidays. Not sure what to think of the engine, a purist i am sure would frown on it right? (i personally wouldnt care as long as it was running strong) I will give them a call later today to see if they can give me some more info&pics

A great many of us make changes to these cars anyway.
I have twin Webers on a 3.5L engine out of an 84 635 CSi and a 5 speed from a 528i
If you want to buy it and drive it, just make it the way you like it. I love mine!
Maybe you can coordinate with Mario Langston as he really knows his way around these cars and can give you a sence of what would need to be fixed right away.

You can pop the standard airfilter back on this car and the enjine would look stock.

Wow that is one beatiful car! I talked to the dealer in NH, he does seem to know a lot about the history of the car, he was very nice and informative, he told me it would need about $7K for exterior an 4K for the interior for the car to be perfect, that is just too much money for me right now. He said he's been getting call from all over.... we'll see, I might drive up anyway in January if i do i will contact Mario Lansgton for advise or see if he has anything for sale in my price range. I really appreciate your help so far.

Remember "perfect" is a long way to go.
If it is roadworthy, safe and fun, bodywork and interior details can happen along the way.
These cars are meant to be DRIVEN.
Once you do, you will not want to do much else with it.

Talk about personalized, I doubt the purists would appreciate the red leather shift boot, not to mention the hula girl on the dash!!!

Stan, being a fellow chamonix white lover I gotta say...that is one beautiful car!

Cheers and a Happy Holiday!

i am just getting mine back from the upholstery shop. it's a 1970 2800cs, engine has been completely rebuilt and has about 10 miles on it. comes with webber 44mm carbs, new original silver paint, new interior, new chromed bumpers...not even on car yet and includes new rubber for bumpers, new rubber on front and back windshields, i have owned this car since the late 70's. it's been in calif the whole time and hardly driven as i was constantly moving it around to avoid the ex-wife. paint job 4k, interior..3.7k, chrome .7k, engine rebuild...3k. Car is 100% driveable (daily) and will serve you more than well, problem is i want 18k. if interested i am at 7147137249
