Interesting ebay offering

This was for sale in Sacramento CA last year a few times for the $20K-30K range. research this very carefully, especially with the 5K BUY IT NOW price????????

It is a closed auction. I have contacted the seller to see if I can find out more and possibly get in on the bidding. There does seem to be something wrong. However, it appears that the car is mostly intact and the engine is there. Even if it needs considerable work it would be a good investment to buy and just store.

Little Research

I found this on a google search and it looks remarkably like the car in question..... Check engine and back seat photos for comparison. In that the car sold for $22,500, I think that the $5,000 buy it now may be so much dust in the wind. It doesn't mention where the car is located which is always a flag for me that the seller is casting as a wide a net as he/she can.

Oh well, maybe it's true and someone gets a deal. Go in with your eyes open.

I would venture to guess that the photos are not current. The engine and back seat pictures appear to be identical.

3200 CS in good condition sell for over 60K (higher in Europe--I looked at one in Germany this Summer). What's baffling is that this guy has a 100% feedback rating?! Maybe his account was phished? Either way this reminds me of the Alpina sale we talked about last month but on steroids!

definite scam. Description has html element linking to CSS file that redefines ebay appearance and behavior.

CSS file here http://www.bazyco.cz/web/css/50000.css

images like this:

It adds images overlay actual bidding window and buy it now or bid attempt are imposible.

I checked this code and it is harmless. What he want is to prevent bidding in most cases (real auction doesn't have buy it now). You have to contact him to get details or "add you to the bidding list" then he will make a kind offer to sell it to you for half price for some lame excuse....

Bertone

This car was for sale in Sacramento for $40K for a number of years. Finally was sold at auction this last August in Monterey, buy of the event at $18.5K as I recall. Bought by a pal of Carl Nelson down in San Diego, where the car is now.
eBay scammin' going on.

I work on a 30" monitor at work and none of the overlaid images even line up. This is a poor scam. If you resize your browser window it's fairly obvious that its a fake.

if it will work on 30% of visitors, 1/10 of them will write him, and 1/100 of these who wrote would send him money he wins...

If you look at the question and answer section... it seems like someone stole some guy's username and posted it, using the "pre-approval" to get some money out of some suckers.

Crazy stuff.

Got a reply from the guy

I sent the guy an email with a request for info from an unimportant email account and got this reply. What a resource the E9 board is! He should have tried to flog a different make....

"I'm really sorry for this late reply but I've been very busy lately and away from a computer. The car is located in Panama City Beach, FL. It has all the papers(complete). This was my son's car who passed away 4 months ago, it only brings me bad memories. I want this transaction to be smooth as I am caught in the middle of some very important events and I don't have much time at my disposal. The car is in perfect condition, no scratches, no special marks, no need for additional repairs what so ever, no leaks, rust free. A great car ready to be yours. It has a clear title.
The price is $5,000 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental US. There are no other costs regarding this transaction. Regarding payment I am aware of the eBay's rules and we will use Vehicle Purchase Protection Program which will hold the payment until you receive the car. If you are interested please provide me the following informations necessary to take a decision:
-full name
-your eBay ID
-any negative feedback and if so .... for what reason .
If I receive the requested information you will be informed by eBay during the next hours with details about your purchase.

Thank you,
David Barr"
