I was on my way to work a ballgame last week when my Bav started backfiring intermittently. It got to the point where I could only go 55 mph but I drove the last few miles there anyway. After the game I pulled the distributor cap off and a thin 4" strand of black plastic came out. I pulled the rev limiting rotor off, and the tab that grounds the spark had broken and was very loose in its socket. I pulled that out and put the distributor back together. It fired right up an all is well.
