Interior install of additional gauges

I'm planning to add additional gauges to the center consol, in place of a radio just below the air vents. There is a good writeup of the technical aspect of the project here on the site, so I'd appreciate some ideas/photos/suggestions for a clean interior installation.

This company sells gauge kits and faceplates for gauges and radios, they also have a 3 gauge cluster that replaces the speaker in the fascia (dash):

I can vouch for Mark Parker's work. He made a custom leather covered faceplate for our 2002 for little more than one of his stock items. For a hundred bucks it turned out very well. Highly recommended.

additional gauges in my E9

Self made of massive aluminium , with wrinkle paint and wood inlay, these with the two are old pics, now i have 3 additional gauges in my E9

Use vdo series 1 gauges. They match original design.
