Our Vintage and Collectable BMW Owners are invited to attend an exclusive viewing of the renowned William Lyon Vintage Aircraft & Auto Museum collection on Sunday March 6th, 2011 from 10 AM until 12 Noon. There is a discounted Museum admission fee of $6 or $7.

The Museum is located at the Western edge of John Wayne Airport.

Museum address is 19300 Ike Jones Rd., Santa Ana, CA 92707. Ike Jones Rd. starts from the 4 way stop at the end of Baker St and IJ Rd. ends at the Lyon Museum. As most of our Vintage BMW automobiles do not have GPS, general location details are being given. Check MapQuest for specific directions from your point of origin. There is a Baker St exit off the 55 Freeway below the 405. If traveling South on the 405 toward JW Airport you must take the 73 to the 55 and exit immediately to Fair Drive where a "U" turn will get you on the 55 N bound where the second exit will be Baker St.

This invitation is exclusively for our Vintage and Collectable BMW's. The first 50 owner respondents will have "special parking" arrangements for display. If weather should sour, we will postpone to another date

Please e-mail me by Friday March 4th with your name and Type BMW you will bring at:

Dear Murray:

Lyon Air Museum, a premier Southern California showcase for vintage military aircraft and automobiles, is inviting select car clubs such as yours to play host for a “Cars & ****pits Day,” these events are scheduled for the first Sunday of each month and are limited for up to 50 exhibit cars.
February was a huge success and March is reserved for you and the BMW’s. Cars & ****pits takes place from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lyon Air Museum facility, located at the west side of John Wayne Airport in Orange County The Museum address is: 19300 Ike Jones Rd., Santa Ana, CA 92707
This special event, combining horsepower and history, has a definite excitement factor because it is a unique destination for your members and additionally presents Museum visitors with an exceptional opportunity to view some of the world’s most beautiful and rare BMW’s.

Your members can compare the classic BMW’s with the Museum’s own stable of vintage luxury vehicles, including a 1939 Mercedes-Benz Model G4 Offener Touring Wagon (used by the Fuhrer himself), a 1947 V-12 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet, and a 1941 Cadillac Series 62 convertible sedan (originally owned by New York socialite Princess Diane Eristavi).
The 30,000-sq.ft Lyon Air Museum opened in Dec. 2009. The facility represents the fulfillment of a dream of Maj. Gen. William Lyon, USAF (Ret), who held the position of Chief of the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 1975 to 1979. Currently, Gen. Lyon is Chairman of the Board and CEO of William Lyon Homes, Inc., Newport Beach, Calif. His passion for aviation history and youth education is the driving force behind Lyon Air Museum. In establishing the museum, Gen. Lyon sought to create a world-class facility that would be available to the local community and would offer interactive educational exhibits designed to inspire young people. The Museum has on exhibit some of the world’s rarest operational aircraft and vehicles.
Murray, please have the BMW owners pre-register so that we can obtain an accurate count. We look forward to hosting the BMW’s and to making this gathering unique and exciting.

Blue Skies,

Lyon Air Museum
