After the recent "rust bucket" discussion I just couldn't resist the urge to try and answer the question... my unscientific analysis says no.

What condition do you consider your parts to be in for the prices listed below? If your goal is to scope "used" parts you may be close on them, but their condition will be suspect. If your goal was to quote new old stock, or "like new" condition parts I would argue that many of your prices are way too low.

Just my 2 cents.............

I was generally assuming one would be parting out an E9; definitely not NOS. Aside from that, no real assumptions. You are free to draw your own conclusions.

Time or Money

It's amazing how productive one can be, if one just stops surfing the net for a day.

By the way, how much for a nice set of Alpina 16" wheels in your fantasy junk yard? I have some Canadian Tire money, do you take that?

I'm only kidding.

I just wish I could have bought some of those parts at those prices! Some prices seem fair but most are too low for the west coast (where everyone pays more and asks for more)

I do like the thought process though and FYI, the sum of my parts (receipts documented) IS way more than what I could get on "the street" for my coupe.

Yeah - I'm pretty sure that our cars are worth more in parts than as a whole. I know that I used low estimated prices but then again, selling off every part would also not be realistic so it probably balances out. The other consideration we all have is tuning, rust removal, paint, and on and on. The costs seems to mount ant mount.

I think the conclusion is that we all have an irrational attachement to our cars - it's definitely not financial - sort of like our attachments to our significant others (and I'm not talking about later model coupes when I say others).

To hell with the valuations. Just drive'em and enjoy'em!
