I think we all have parts that we are unsure of their origin. I have gotten to the point that I use tape and mark it, E24/L or E9/R etc.

It has had a rivets and part of fabric on the edges so it is coming from interior for sure.

The problem is I have got it with a bunch of different parts and this one is not fitting my knowledge of E9 construction, but I have never part E9 out, so would like to ask the experts. Maybe it is coming from other cars like Karmann Ghia or MB but I do not know how to check it out. It has no marks no numbers etc.

Parts become embedded in your head for an E9 once you deconstruct/construct....since it is hand built and although you know where it came from and how to fit it, it doesn't fit!

Agree.

My project hasn't started.

I have acquired bunch of parts from other person who was restoring many E9s (but not only), so might be this is from other type of car.

It looks it is not from any of BMWs.

I know you have different classic cars.

The trim must have been installed in the interior. Could be seat frame as it was riveted on the edges with bigger ones on the ends with part of black vinyl.
