hello, new to this forum and took my new car to pierre in bedford NY to have him sort it as it was sitting for 3 years. We found a hole in the firewall on the fuse box side and a separation in the passenger foot well where it attaches to the a piller. My car has some box section rust issues and since they hold the front part of the car together, i wanted to know if it is possible to patch or reinforce these areas without taking the front end of the car apart as i was only looking for a cool driver that would be safe and not to do a crazy resto. Anyone know any body shops with experience on our cars in NYC area or the east coast also would be great .thanks
a sad sir shorty

I don't think you'll find anyone here advocating a rust fix "on the cheap". Attempts to reinforce without removing the corroded core would be questionable, temporary at best, and amount to throwing good money after bad. Unfortunately as you indicate, major chassis disassembly is the only way to get at the cancer.

I have heard people speak of structural foam injection and such, but have never seen a testimony for same by an authoritative source.

If you do come up with what many would consider a magic fix, I'd love to know........Best of luck.

If you don't want to do the repair work, but want to save money your best bet is to strip the car yourself. Take lots of pictures and make lots of notes.
Most of the cost of repairing is labour so the more you do yourself the less it will be plus there is less chance of damage to "soft" fittings. A bodyshop doesn't want to do that so they should appreciate the effort you make.

Nothing is terminal when it comes to coupes, or any other car for that matter! It just takes time and money
