I just bought some Euro 1968 Porshe 911 parts that included this Blaupunkt radio.
I am wondering if this radio is also correct for my E9?
Open to any information.

It's a 1967/68 serie Y European Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio, so it's not period correct for your '72 E9
You need a 1972/73 serie D Blaupunkt radio. I have this radio available.

i would say that if it is a couple, 5, 6 years younger than your car it is certainly possible that could be considered according to the period of the car
i.e. my marchal lights have a production stamp that says 1969, they are 1,5 years younger than the car, i assume that they are correct for me

point is wether you like if or not
i prefer the style that @enoz05 proposed, but that is just me

I am in agreement with Markos, if the radio is functional you can most certainly use it in your '72. Its just as likely a 72 BMW owner "in period" would find a c.1968 blaupunkt as they would a craig or muntz for their car, and I am not sure how likely it was that blaupunkts were flying off the shelves then either.

OK that said, what a lucky find, I look up stuff like your radio on places like http://www.vintageblau.com/ for fun passtime.

It will definitely fit the hole perfectly and look nice. It does have a slightly earlier look but nobody cares.
All Blaupunkt radios from 1963 to 1976 will fit the hole perfectly and look nice. All depends on whether you are looking for a period correct radio or for a good looking one.

I would argue that after satisfying the "fits the hole" criteria, any German made radio from your model year back is "period correct". Using a unit that wasn't available until years later (after your model year) would break the period satisfaction at some point.

Would that radio work in the USA???
Yes, I believe they work fine - you just don't get the full bandwidth spectrum that is broadcast in the US. At least that is true of a number of old German tube radios I have in the house.
