Is there a fuse for a CSi fuel pump relay or anything else related to the injection electrical section?

Trying to help a friend with a CSi, am wondering what if any porion of the electrical wiring for the injection ignition system on a CSi is fused? Also is there a wiring diagram available for a '72 CSi? Thanks.

Update: When the driver window is put down number eight fuse blows. When the fuse blows the engine will crank but not start. I can’t find a relay in a diagram off number eight fuse? Would it be the fuel pump or some other relay?

Steve - I'm not a big fuel injection guy, but I know e9Wayne had a bunch of trouble when a portion of the wiring harness in his trunk was shorting. Fuel pump related, I think.

Look for routing of wiring, and a missing grommet.

Csi wiring diagram, page 105 owners manual. Page 61-0/45 blue service manual. Diagram shows a fuse 12 on the feed for the fuel pump relay. I think this fuse is under the right rear seat close to the relay and brain. I'm older so don't take this as gospel. If fuel pump doesn't work after you blow #8 fuse the power lead for the fuel injection is on the wrong terminal side of the fuse box. Power flow is battery, ignition switch, hot side of fuse box to D jet harness. I hope this helps. Tom Baruch

Thanks Tom will check it out!

Yes, the fuel pump relay is under the back passenger seat on the kick panel. There's a small screw that grounds it to the body. If that screw is loose the fuel pump will stop or be randomly intermittent. I'm still running the original D-Jet & Athena is accessible in the garage.

Steve - Tom (bmwski) was in Hilton Head with us. (As was e9Wayne.) It does not appear y'all have made that connection.

Further D Jet information, fuel pump fuse #8 is probably correct just make sure it is a blue 25 amp and that the contacts are clean and tensioned. There is nothing in the manual that tells you what that fuse # is. I looked at my fuse ledger (original d Jet)car and no mention of a fuel pump fuse. I guess injection was an addon like AC back then. The window connection is a separate issue , I would move the window down without the engine running to see if fuse blows while noting position of failure. Then it is hunting for a short or a overload on that circuit

Friends,

Last spring after several months of hibernation I had troubles in starting my -73 CSi (with M90, L-Jet). After several hours I found that the fuse for CSi fuel pump, fuse #7 was damaged. It was actually not blown or burned, but the plastic around the metal strip was damaged so that the connection to fuse holder was bad.
But anyway the number of fuse is 7.
Now, there might be differences in generations or year models. So hopefully I'm not creating confusion.
Even if the engine in my car is not original the snap shot (apparently originally from this great forum) below matches the reality:

Ok Steve, it's #7 fuse that is used for the CSI fuel pump. Can't believe I looked at the fuse box ledger and missed that, I'm blaming that on to many great Manhattans. So pull fuse 7 and see if the car dies. If it doesn't then it's wired to the wrong circuit and it could be overloading it. Duh on me.

Hah! Thanks Tom I will check it out and let you know!
