Can you tell from this partial photo if this diff is LSD? Tia.

you can tell a LSD without even looking at the dif.

Raise one rear wheel, other on the ground, in gear, parking brake off.

If you can spin the wheel, you have an open dif. If it does not spin (and feels linked to the other side) then it is a LSD (or locked some other way).

Looks like you have the car on a lift to take the picture. If you spin one rear wheel and the other spins the same way it is a LSD. If the car is in gear, nether wheel will spin with a LSD.

Hope this helps.

About all you can tell from the pic is if it is the correct kind of diff, (specifically a side-loader) which it is.

There will be a small, flat, stamped section on the other side of the diff (the non-pictured side) on the bottom edge. It will tell you the ratio and if it is a LSD. If it is a LSD, there will be an "S" stamped on this tab. This, of course, assumes that nobody opened it up in the past and changed the guts, but that is a pretty infrequent event due to the costs and specialized tools required.

Don't have the car as of yet in my possession, but forgot to enquire or check to see if it was LSD. Will know soon after I get it. Thanks.
