We had a great weekend at Sonoma Historics. I was put into Group 14- 1973-1979 IMSA GT & 1964-1970 FIA cars. There were about 25 cars entered in this group, everything from a Dekon Monza, 5 & 7 liter Corvettes, 935 K3 Porsches, a couple of 934 Porsches, 4 RSR Porsches, and a couple of Datsun Z cars.
I was gridded 12 at the start. The organizers reserve the right to arrange the grids how they please, not always based on lap times. They like to spice up the show, I guess.
I was able to pass 4 cars on the first lap, including a 3 wide move going into turn 7, and finished 5th overall.
The car ran well all weekend, though it ran hot still in the race (oil 260-270, water 220-230). The AVONs worked well, even though I worked them pretty hard, especially the left front.
Next race is Portland Historics at the end of June.
