Jesus Nut

I had to get an impact socket for it. I want to say it is a 42mm.

As for tricks, heat it up before trying, and get a long, long breaker bar. I ended up having to jump on a 6ft breaker bar to dislodge mine.

Oh, you mean the slotted nut that goes on the end of the camshaft, not the main crank nut on the lower timing cover...

The latter is usually called the Jesus nut because it is torqued down to ~300ft-lbs, hence my confusion.

I think my Motronic conversion nut was about the same size, 42mm. I got mine from Carl Nelson. As I recall, it wasn't on there very tightly, and it was easily removeable with a large adjustable wrench. It can't be torqued down very much, since the camshaft will break under too much torque.

I just checked another rebuild site, it looks like the nut is actually 36mm.

Of course, the best way to tell is to grab a ruler, but I'm guessing that isn't terribly convenient. The old head of mine may still have the camshaft nut on it, I'll look when I get home from work.

Ok, I just checked the nut on my old CS head. The nut seems to be 40mm. (Didn't have a metric ruler handy, it was 1 9/16")
