Just joined, San Jose, Ca, 71 2800cs

Hey all,

I just joined! I'm in San Jose Ca and bought a 71 2800cs 4-speed last December. Little rust, very intact but pretty tired Awesome car to drive even in its current condition. We just sold our X5 and we also have a 08 328i.

My car was titled in CA as a 1971, even though it was built on 02/70.

Hi Steve - welcome to the group. Not sure about your level of mechanical ability, but I like to recommend Rob Seigel's Memoirs of a Hack Mechanic book specifically for the section on making an old car reliable. The book steers you to focus on stuff than can leave you stranded, which is often not where we start when buying older cars. I know the first thing I did was change the steering wheel, for example.
