KEY question ?

Hello my friends , i have the folowing problem , i have only one KEY for my CS , i can start only the ingnition with it , but i cant lock both doors , i cant lock the trunk and the gas cap also !
Could you tell me how many keys do you have for your locks ?
If my locks (trunk,gas,doors) are with different key (wich i dont have ) is it possible a key shop to make a key if i bring them the locks ?

There is a locksmith very close to me who can and will cut these keys. The only problem is, he wants $60 a key. If you're interested I will get his name and address and you can deal with him directly.

On my coupe, the same key fits the ignition, both doors, and the trunk. I don't have a locking gas cap, but most caps I have seen take a much smaller key.

I have four keys that came with my car. Two fit all locks and two are limited to certain locks. I don't remember which they are limited to but I am going to guess they work only on the ignition and maybe the doors. I think the limited access keys are used when the vehicle it is taken to a shop for work so they don't have access to the trunk.

I only use the keys that have full access.

I'm fairly certain it is this place. I will swing by there tomorrow and get a business card from them to be sure. I was in there a year ago trying to get keys for my 2002 cut. He recognized they key and that surprised me. When he said he could cut the dimple keys for the coupes, I was incredibly surprised. He even showed me blanks.

The limited access keys are "Valet keys" hence the name. When you valet park your car, the valet only has access to your ignition and door locks.

Santa Monica Lock and Key in California. I sent them 400% enlarged picture of my original key dimples and they made duplicates for $35 each plus shipping. Painless.

Hi There,

I have one "master" key for my coupe..It is the original ignition key..my mechanic buddy removed the lock barrels from the doors and matched the key to the barrels. Took him less than 1 hour to do the job.
He did the same on my 2002..I think I've seen a write up in the past either on this site or the 2002 site ? Or somewhere else ? Easily doable for a good locksmith.
If I remember correctly gas cap key is completely different.Probably inexpensive to buy new gas cap with key !

Now that you mention it, I do remember them being called "Valet keys".
