For 5 days I was tracking a set of parts manuals on EBay. Thought these will be mine. Set myself up with the countdown and was about to launch a very high bid with 15 seconds to go. Thought 1 click bid would be the way to do it but I have never hit that button before. It did not load my highest price just beat the other newer higher prices. My computer got bogged down and the back key quit working. Auction disappeared before my eyes with me well out of the running. My highest bid was more than twice the sale price!!!

I haven't punched myself that hard in a while.
Anyone have some parts manuals (repro will be fine) they can sell me??

If a local got the manuals…congratulations…grrrr

Tia

I feel your pain! Lost a couple of much sought after CS parts myself due to the same situation.

Have you considered buying the new loose white binder parts books. These could be had new from Carl Nelson for about $80 a set. These larger formatted books contain all the info and illustrations as the orange book, as well as superseded parts numbers. I have both the orange and the white books, but I do prefer to use the orange manuals due to their smaller size and ease of handling.

Bob,

Trying to beat the clock at the end will rarely work. I pick a number I am comfortable spending and put it in. These go for $100 usually and the winning bidder may have placed a bid that high but got lucky as the second bidder only entered $62. With items that rarely show up you have to be aggressive if you really want it.

Nicad, in the future you might try AuctionSniper, you just enter the highest amount you're happy with and leave it to do the rest. It's helped me win many auctions.

I am not sure what happened with your bid. I bid that way almost every time I go after something on eBay. I enter the maximum I will pay in the last few seconds and will get it unless someone else out bids my bid. I have won sometimes by just a few cents and have lost on occasion by just a few dollars. That is a risk I am willing to take.

If you like I can get quote from my local printer to reprint my parts book . I had one of the repair manuals reprinted for a forum member a few years ago, they charged $60 .

Thanks for the offer G but I ended up buying a reprint off La Jolla as I was also buying one of their diff reinforcement plates. I DO really still wish I won that auction for some original books !!!

Try Bidnip, it costs so little and you can select the number of seconds before the auction closes, if you just put in your highest bid normally, someone will typically outbid you due to pure desire or a large paypal account....
