Hello again,

I have come across another electrical issue, my L light, charging red light on the cluster stays on when I start the car. It doesn't dull at all.

As soon as I turn the lights on though the light goes out and I can hear the engine change note, like it is working harder.

Any thoughts what the issue could be would be a great help.

Thanks

Regards
Hamish.

Check the plug on the alternator, be sure it's tight, check ground wire. Could be a bad alternator or voltage regulator.

Have you checked that the voltage is low using a multimeter? If the voltage reads high but the light is still on, then your diodes could be bad, which are built into the back of the alternator.

Good morning all,

Turned out that both (one on the car and the spare) the regulators where no good. Took the one off my parts car and cured the problem. Took it off gave it a good clean and now looks good.

It's about three times bigger than the old one (RE 57) and is made in Spain. Not sure if it's original ?

Thank you for all the assistance.

Hamish.
