Hi,
I have searched for AC upgrade.
There are quite some info available on compressors & refrigerant discussions but I could not find any info on condenser fan upgrade.
The fan seems very small and it seems that space is available for a larger one.
Any input?
Stephane.

I use the 2-speed condenser fan from a 90's BMW as my main cooling fan. It fits right in that space on some custom brackets I made.

I have yet to look into this, but I installed a Spal fan in my e39 sedan. They make several sizes, including double fans side by side that I plan to explore.

Just a thought, but how much air do you want to block to the radiator (with a larger fan(s) footprint) when this is not running?

I used a single Spal fan in my recent upgrade. It is very noisy, it sounds like a gas turbine, definitely not the way to attract stares for your coupe. I am looking to replace it, anyone got a part number for an aftermarket fan they are happy with?

Yes, it is noisy. Sounds like a propeller airplane taxiing around on the tarmac.

Boneyards have plenty of the 1980's 5,6,7 series aux fans.
Easy to install. Add a e12 fan shroud and a bav auto 82 degree sensor
and you are done.

Don are you saying that you switch the fan to run any time the coolant temp hits 82 degrees? I thought the existing fan is switched to go on when the a/c is switched on (although I don't have a wiring diagram).

I have it both ways-

ac on turns on aux fan controlled by relay

Too hot turns on aux fan controlled by same relay

Use a diode from temp sensor to compressor so the temp sensor doesn't back feed the ac compressor and turn it on at the wrong time.

Tiny current on this circuit- only energizing the relay.
