I'm using a late block from a 90 735, I never thought to change out the oil dipstick & tube for the early pan, could someone measure it please?
Thanks, Jeff ...:)

My dipstick is 16 3/4 from tip to rubber edge that fits flush against the tube. The tube is 8 11/16ths from the block to the top edge.

17" tip of stick to stop. From tip to quart low-1,1/8" , from tip to full- 1,3/4".

Tube- block to top-7,3/4"

Give or take a smidge.

There were two types.

my dipstick from a 3.5L from a mid 80's 735 is 16 15/16"
From tip to quart low-1,1/8" , from tip to full- 1,3/4".

What's interesting is that the factory repair manual mentions, shows a photo, 20mm from block to top of tube. Just like Luis; but you can't make out the steel ruler to see if it's just a typo.

If you put 6 quarts in you're full with a new filter. If you put 6 quarts in and as I do when changing the filter add some in the filter can to help avoid dry start then you're overfull.( Not by much-1/4 of a quart.) But if your filter was full, you're definately overfull.

Now the question is what type of dipstick? Mine has a zig-zag portion, meaning it aint straight and you twist it in to a final position.

Did you change the oil pick-up from the old motor when you used the e9/e12 pan? Did you block/ plug the bypass port on the B35 to use the early bottom bolt filter and not have low pressure?
