I’m trying to modernize my lighting to use LED and halogen. I’ve tried the flasher mod and it's not working. Using the original relay the lights blink fast as long as I have a couple of filament bulbs installed. The hazards are also working with a few old bulbs installed. When I use the flasher mod all I get is one relay click but no flashing. My car is a 1970 2800cs. Images are the mod in question. Is this supposed to work for all models? Any suggestions to get the flashers working? Another question I have is about headlight protection. I have some covers over my old sealed beams and I think it would be good to retain these when upgrading to halogen. Since the halogen upgrade may disappear in the future it seems wise to try to protect the glass. Has anyone purchased these covers and if so from where did you get them? Mine are a bit yellow. The front of the original bulb looks new. The covers worked great and are hardly noticeable. Has anyone tried the protective film for headlights and if so how has it held up?

Are you mix/matching LED and filament bulbs?
No. They will all be LED but I mentioned the mixed bulb type to show that the issue is related to the low load LED bulb not the system in general. I have ordered another flasher unit. Im hoping I just got a low quality one that really doesn't work with LEDs even though it specifically states it does.

The tail lights have a 5w and 22w red bulb. What LED bulb is being used in place of the 5w bulb? I used a recommended LED from another post for the bright bulbs. It was this one from Amazon.

iBrightstar 9-30V Extremely Bright 1156 1141 1003 BA15S LED Bulbs

That is the correct bulb in Red, used in both running and brake light
Isn't the running light supposed to be dimmer so that braking is more obvious? I did use the same bulb for both but the original filament bulb was of the small type.

I’ve done some experimenting with the flasher units and none seem to work 100% with LED’s. I’ve tried 3 types and out of the 3 only the CEC EF33 works. But this one also has issues. These are the 3 I tried. The last one claims to work with LED lights but it only has a capacitor inside so it definitely is made for resistive loads. I actually got 2 different brands of the last one and they both claimed LED compatibility. The image shows the issue that the working flasher has. This is being run with a bench power supply outside of the car. I still cant get them to blink when in the car. The image shows both blink states. When off one of the LED will be partially illuminated. The LED used drastically amplifies this effect. The smaller red LED is acting as the dashboard light. This works correctly so you can see which state its in based on this LED. When off, there will be at least 1 LED that has some current flow and will be partially on. Anyone found something that works 100%? The LEDs I used for my USA car are as shown. I tested the smaller red ones and they are as bright as the other ones and much cheaper. Since I have a USA car I need the 1157 amber and the small red BA9S side bulbs. My tail light gaskets are a bit crusty so I created some new ones. If anyone is interested in new ones to 3D print the stl can be found at https://github.com/e9frank/e9diyparts/tree/main/3Dprints/TailLightGasket. The TPU used is 85A from Siraya Tech and printed on an Elegoo Neptune 4 Max. It will require a bit of glue to keep it attached to the housing.
