little help please

Can someone tell me where- how this little item is inserted, and whether or not having this in its proper place will prevent the speedometer from functioning. I know it's the odo reset knob but totally forgot where it goes.

The square end plugs into the back of your speedometer. The bracket near the knob is rivited to the under-dash panel.

Is installation of this thing really necessary? I never use it and it is a pain in the ass when removing and reinstalling the trim panel.

It's not needed until you want to reset your trip odometer.

Thread pollution (I'm peeing in my own pool) but.... does anyone have a junk radio that will fit in the radio plate hole? I just need the face and knobs but it does not need to work as I'll be using a wireless speaker and bluetooth

Yours looks like mine - square hole in the dash. I too need a solution a fake radio face. Can you please elaborate on the system you are installing in place of the radio?

Peter, you can have this one if you want. I replaced it with a vintage version.

Hey Peter -- a while back you were talking about installing a small ipad in the center speaker opening; did you do that?
