Just tonight, I discovered BAT list trains! I was looking at their RVs as I have a Vintage Airstream. Then I found trains, and then also a slot car track. Take a look :
I remember going out "Playland by the beach" in San Francisco with my dad. I ended up getting a car and we went a few times to race, Their track is shown below. A few years ago I sold a car for my son and the buyer was telling me that he and his friends had large slot car tracks in their basements and would have a race at one of their houses every month. So cool. Slot cars was my #1 fascination as a kid. My coupe is just a larger version.
Ha! Well, I do have a "gently used", Ninco 1/32 track kit and several very, very detailed slot cars. Some of these seem way to nice to subject to the inevitable flying off of the track. Then there is the space. You need a lot of space to set up right. Hmmm.OK Mike, when are you going to get one set up? Then we can have race weekends at your place!!
Thanks, Rick
Cool! I can recall when clear plastic car bodies were all the rage and you could pick a few new ones up at the hobby shop, and paint the "inside". Even a young fan could do an acceptable job with their tiny bottles of Testor's paints. And then install on your fastest chassis with pins! lol. Ah yes, quite the flashback! Thanks!I was so into this. I built my own motors and frames. I could solder better then at age 12 than I can now. I still have all my stuff including my 20 dollar (huge bucks back then) "Parma" control that was hand-painted.
That was achieved by swapping the center gear under the metal clamp that held it all together! Quick accel, no top end! Some guys had cars that would accelerate very quickly. I never found out how they did that. Never had a chance with my “out of the box” Lola.
