I don't have time to do it myself but I have a donor e24 M6 and I want to see if there are some decent shops in the Raleigh area that could handle the conversion (engine/tranny/EFI) to a '71 E9. My M6 is running and my daily driver but is in partial restoration/daily driver mode and I am moving shortly and can't take both cars. Appreciate the assistance. thx

Paying a shop to do that will be very, very expensive. (10k+) The only guy I know of that is even remotely close is Korman, and I'm not even sure if he would take that job.

while I appreciate the response that is not what I was looking for in a response. I know of Korman and know how much it may cost. Just looking for some decent shops in the area that might be able to handle it.

Raliegh Shops

Try:

Transporter Werks, since your a Porsche guy.

The Shadetree Mechanic- does inspections/ work for weekend race guys.

There are a lot of 02s in that area. Try the Tarheel BMW club/ classifieds; a month or so ago there was an E9 owner who was looking to sell- might be a resource.

This may or may not help.
But, sports and imports in chespeake va is owned by mike robinson, who has done a ton of engine swaps in bmws, mostly e30s, including one i owned for a while. active tarheel bmw member, too.
also, bill hutchens has a shop (professional auto) in new bern, and he also has done engine swaps, built bmw race cars, etc.
Korman is expensive.

Conversion

I live in Raleigh I have a 1972 e9, besides Shadetree Auto I can't think of anyone here that would tackle that. I know Shadetree did an s14 conversion on a 2002 but I think the owner was instrumental in that swap.
