I just purchased a 1971 2800CS, I want to have a fine paint job done . Has anyone out there had any experience with " Korman" restoration in Greensboro NC ? If so , are they a good outfit to use ? The car is in Philadelphia and I would like to find a place on the east side of the Mississippi if possible.:-|

Based on talking with several customers over the years, Korman will do a good job, but be prepared to spend lots of cash and for it to take a very long time.

If all you want is a good paint job, there is likely a good shop for that far more local to you, which would do it for far cheaper than Korman would. The domestic guys in your area probably know some good candidates; that's how I found my paint/body guy.

Generally, people send their cars to places like Coupeking, LaJolla, and Korman for complete, turn-key restorations, not just for paint.

Welcome from Bucks County. I had my coupe painted at Butch's Body Works just north of Doylestown. It was the fourth car he painted for us. A buddy had his coupe painted there last year. My paint job is four years old and looks like it was done this summer. Quite reasonable turnaround, fair prices, excellent work.

If you want to talk more call me at 215.862.5371 evenings except Wednesday.

At the recent New Hope Auto Show seven!! coupes showed up. We hope to have at least that many at the Buckingham Auto Show on Sunday Sept. 19.
It would be great if you could make it. I believe the web site is :

buckinghamautoshow.org

If you want to contact me by email use: [email protected] I prefer that to the e9 message system.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Many body shops can do very nice paint work and if that’s all your coupe needs consider yourself very lucky. Usually these coupes need extensive rust repair (especially Northeast cars) and metal work, it’s going to be a lot harder and more expensive to find a competent shop to handle that type of work for you. I guess what I’m trying to say is I would not be asking for a shop that does a fine paint job when you may really need a restoration shop that does metal work, believe me they are 2 different animals even though they may be somewhat related . ~ John Buchtenkirch

A footnote to my first post. When my car was painted Butch did work on one of my shock towers and some other rust issues. At the time he had a guy working for him who had worked at Mobile Tradition in Germany. I don't know if he is still there.
