Opening the trunk a few weeks ago I was presented with this:

(don’t know how to rotate the pic)
It was a pretty hot summer and that 50 year old glue couldn’t take it any longer.

I plan to take it out and sand the glue of the backing board. Any suggestions on removing the old dry glue from the vinyl (or whatever it is) sheet? Then is the 3M glue Dick suggested for the hood insulation good for this too?

Appreciate any input.

I'd remove the tool case (6 screws I think). Then remove the entire trunk lid liner. It is fastened to the trunk lid just like a door card. Then re glue or replace the vinyl. Better yet, get a new trunk lid liner from @alprada70 . They are beautifully made and reasonable.
