I wonder is is possible to buy later alpina repos and fill the extra five holes to look like the uber rare early version? (Aluminum weld the excess holes shut?)

I personally would not, as it would be unkind to the original designers and makers-not to mention those who own the original parts....

Just a thought,

Confusing

Makes me wish we had an alpina gallery here....I am also not sure about the spokes, but if different then probably a moot point...

Thanks,

MF

You can definitely plug the holes with a tig welder. Aluminum is also super easy to grind smooth. I just had a crack on my 18" alpinas repaired with a high frequency tig welder.

The markings are different as well... I have a set of both- it would take a lot of work to get both the raised and relieved text and #s to look correct. Unless you are putting them on a CSL it really doesn't matter- the later ones still look great on any E9.

Date stamp is definitely important, can't/shouldn't be reproduced....

But if spokes are same and holes are welded and centers repainted, then the wheel would look good from a short distance....

Original Alpinas are on my to-do-list, albeit I will have be patient and ask nicely....maybe get a little luck/ help from the forum as well 8)

BBS vs Alpina

I have 14x7 bbs basketweaves in grey/aluminum....wouldn't mind putting them towards a real set of 14" Alpinas....

When the time comes, hopefully I can make a smooth transition.

14" alpinas

And to think I sold a mint NIB set for $125.00 YES $125.00 and delivered them too. That was only ten years ago. What a mistake!

They are OZ replicas, made in Italy back in the day. I got them from Bert35csi. I've had an ebay search on them for years and haven't seen another set yet. They come up occasionally for 2002's. He might have more info about their history. I like them a lot. Good balance between tire and rim size. Many tire choices in 15"

However if I had no financial oversight from my family cfo (thankfully I do) I'd really like to have real 14" Alpinas with Michelin XWX. That look is exceptional.

I just got some Alpina chrome caps to replace my fake ones which replaced the bmw ones:

I agree, the 15s look really nice. He said those were a rare find from a member here.

Yes! I remember looking at old CSL adverts fro mid 90's and the prices were around 12,000£...

Although I am serious about getting wheels for my coupe, there are a few questions I'd like to run by the group...in time....

NIB today would be amazing, I feel like used wheels are great, but the piece of mind of new parts is outstanding....there must be another set out there...$$$

Looks great. I also dream in alpina/xwx, being someone who genuinely loves my coupe (you may be the same) I think with a little patience and nice asking I will get closer to my goal...I just hope the forum would be patient with me 8-)

And I'd probably like to offer my current wheels when the time comes to a forum member which will care for and enjoy them as well.
