I am trying to identify and locate the rubber seal for the lower portion between the inner chrome trim panel and the outer chrome trim plate. Not sure if this is the same molding as the rest of the door surround, but I am missing this lower molding. It appears to be different than the rest of the door moldings. Any ideas?

One of mine is missing also, it appears to be part of the entire (and expensive) door/A pillar seal.

Mine was definitely separated from the whole door seal. The front of the door seal and the rear are under the outside sill plate and dont look cut but are separate from this bottom piece. Is the completeA-pillar seal you reference all one piece and perhaps mine was not originally in separate pieces? If so is there a part number and a source?

It's one long part, essentially three different profiles plus a solid joint piece that joins at the junction of the A pillar and door jamb and runs right around the door aperture. Expensive to buy but easy to fit, part is readily available. You may have some issues getting the the doors to close properly due to the new thicker profile as it takes a while to compress into its new shape, I hand sanded away some of the material on the inside of the 'U' shaped section on mine to help with the seating and reduce some of the bulk.

Cheers. John

The driver's side complete seal is currently not available (and was about $400 when it was). Passenger side appears to be available.

I've been looking for a replacement as well. Almost anything thick enough and very soft would work, it doesn't even need the V shape really. Steelerubber.com has lots of things, but none are super close to the original. This is probably the closest. http://www.steelerubber.com/master-number-for-extrusion-70-1437-99 The original V shaped section is 15mm tall (.590 inch) and roughly 5/8" wide uncompressed. Possibly it was more when new.

part number for the total seal is 51716754282 + 283 passenger. i paid 256 a year ago. the list was 317 at the time. getbmwparts still shows it as available for 319.18 ecs tuning shows it for 347 and it would ship in 3 days

None of those sites carry actual inventory and none can check if BMW has the part in real time. As of 6/16/17 BMW has none in the US or Germany.

my point is they aren't listed as NLA. if you check with BMW they should be able to give you a date estimate of when they will be back in stock. you should also be able to find out how many are on the back order list.
