The '69 2800CS I bought has shocks on it that are REALLY bad so I bought some Bilstein HD's for it. I'm thinking about lowering the car while I have the struts apart and wanted to hear from those who have done it. I've heard Carl Nelson's springs are good. Any other opinions?

I should be picking up my coupe next week after having the rust repaired around the rear window. I saw it today and it looks awesome! He was getting ready to put body filler on it even though you could hardly tell where he welded in the new sheet metal. My son went back down and took pictures for me so I'll post a few here...

The Carl Nelson red B&G lowering springs were installed on my coupe back in 2002 and I simply loves how the car sits, just right with no unsightly huge wheelwell gaps. Recently, Carl has gone to a spring set that is made by another manufacture, the springs are now silver in color. No idea how the new set differs from the old B&G springs.

Thanks Bert. That's just the way I like the car, so hopefully the new springs are similar. I'll call him next week.

I love the picture. My car is Polaris with 16" Alpinas.

Carl just got a bunch more springs in last month. I would get them before they're back-ordered again.

Please post a note after talking with Carl. If the new springs create the same stance I am ready to a set too; I was holding off until I know for sure.

Forget to mentioned that I also installed the front strut camber kit from Carl. They are the upper rubber strut mounts that create a slight negative camber to aid better wearing of front tires. The mounts also create a .25 inch raise at the front suspension.

Barry, the shocks are the obligatory Bilstein HD shocks. I've been told by almost every BMW mechanic who are familiar with the CS coupe is that the bilstein Sport shocks are just too stiff for this car, thereby causing a very rough and uncomfortable ride.

Yep. Same here. Just get the ST sway bar set at the same time to complete the package. You will not be disappointed!
