That looks good towel keeps everything from scratching finish and would come in handy for a tire change hand wipe. I'm in the process of cleaning up the trunk , adding new wheelwell covers and generally spiffing everything up with vinyl paint.

yea i actually wrap the towel around the entire jack to keep it snug - pulled it away for the pic

Here is what I did (with a tip of the cap to HBChris)

the lug wrench is held in place by the jack. I put bits of Dynamat under the lug wrench i 4 places to prevent scratching and to deaden any rattling.

Securing jack and wrench--
The original storage method used 1/2" X 3" foam pieces to cushion at both ends of jack with lug wrench located beneath the jack and also padded to prevent metal to metal contact--was too soft and would absorb moisture. Today 1/2" closed cell foam would be best to use.
Correct hold down hardware is and should be with a wingnut for a finger tight fit--not with a standard nut!
