I was at Home Depot and saw this UGLY car, I was in disbelief it was a BMW M series. The pictures do not show how ugly it actualy was, all that trim is GOLD. They acually inhanced the ugyl grill with GOLD. I had to take the pictues fast, did not want anyone to think I was admiring it

I think mayge it is Clark Griswall car

It would be the taste of some specific markets that are now uprising
IMHO bmw is no more looking at the EU market, and less and less at the US market
make your guesses
If it is the Peruvian market, Peruvians crafted a beautiful word for this:
Huachafo.
Very useful word.

One of the things that originally attracted me to BMW was that the styling of their cars downplayed how well they perform. To me, the 2002 is a perfect example of this.

In recent years, I read that BMW believes that there is still a market for cars with more subtle stying that perform well, but that the people attracted to M cars want their cars to be distinct and make a statement.

As with this hideous beast, they do, but the statement is not a positive one.
