there's a discrepancy in the ad - its says v8 in the initial description, but the seller's notes list it as an inline 6 m88 engine

Perhaps the clerk at DC Motors who filled out the form never saw anything other than a V8. Sorta looks like a V8 if you squint a lot and don't count the pipes.
