How compatible are later model M30 Engine parts to our E9 M30 engines ?
I have the opportunity to buy an M30B30 from a '94 model 730i as described below ..
" BMW Engine M30B30. Very low K's (106,000), excellent condition.
Sell complete with starter motor, alternator, inlet with injectors, wiring loom, engine computer, p/s oil pump, air con compressor including all drive belts, MAF, Fuel/Air control valve and pipes, exhaust manifolds ... plus plus. hear running."
My question's ...
Will the Fuel Injection system bolt directly on to my '74 (carbed) engine ?
Will the head bolt directly to mine ?
Are the Starter motor / alternator etc compatible ?
The asking price is $600 and I was thinking it would make a great spare motor/parts source for the future if the parts are compatible and i would like to do a FI conversion in the near(er!) future.
Lastly, seeing as I can hear it running, I would do a compression test at the same time. What would be considered good compression readings ?
any advice would be appreciated.
